THE SAVOY, perhaps London”s most prestigious hotel, is to be run by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, said to be the largest luxury hotel management company in North America. This follows the purchase of the property by HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud together with Bank of Scotland Corporate, a division of HBOS plc. The consortium last month purchased the Monte Carlo Grand Hotel in Monaco with Fairmont again taking over the actual operation. The group now includes the Hotel George V in Paris and the Hotel des Bergues in Geneva. The ownership of the Berkeley, Claridges and the Connaught remains as before.
