Marriott international has announced plans to provide free wifi to all 47 million members of its loyalty programme.
Starting in January 2015 Marriott Rewards members will have access to free standard wifi, available in more than 3,800 of the company’s properties. The free wifi will be available to those who book directly on Marriott's website, its mobile app, or with the hotel.
“Marriott Rewards members asked for free wifi, and we answered,” said Stephanie Linnartz, executive vice president and chief marketing and commercial officer, Marriott International.
“Free Wi-Fi is a meaningful way to reward our most loyal customers and continue to attract next-gen travellers,” she added.
Marriott confirmed its Platinum and Gold Elite members will still have access to enhanced wifi. This premium service allows for faster download speeds.
