Hard Rock International (HRI) has partnered with Greek investment company, GEK TERNA Group, to develop an integrated resort and casino in the Athens Riviera, the company announced on Thursday.
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Athens is set to open in 2026 as part of ‘The Ellinikon’ redevelopment project. The resort will feature more than 1,000 guest rooms and suites, a 3,000-seat theatre, an outdoor lawn and amphitheatre for events, and a 23,000-sqm conference and exhibition centre.
The project also includes a high-end retail promenade, international restaurants and the highest outdoor rooftop terrace in Athens, according to HRI.
The 30-year concession is a partnership between HRI (51 per cent) and GEK TERNA Group (49 per cent), with the latter responsible for the construction of the project, which is expected to begin in early 2023.
The Athens resort is the newest addition to HRI’s portfolio, which includes entertainment venues, hotels and cafes in more than 70 countries.
