Austrian Airlines has appointed Alfred Ötsch as its new ceo. He will succeed Vagn Soerensen who is leaving after five years in the post.
Austrian said Mr Ötsch, 52 will join the airline in April and take over as ceo in May.
Rainer Wieltsch, chair of Austrian's supervisory board said Mr Ötsch had "wide-ranging professional experience and financial expertise, solid contacts in Austrian business and strong integrative skills."
Mr Soerensen 47, formerly with SAS and chair of the Association of European Airlines in 2004, asked that his contract not be renewed as he plans to return to his native Denmark.
ACTE merges with CBTA Eastern
The Association of Corporate Travel Executives has merged with the Canadian Business Travel Association Eastern region.
All members of the Canadian organisation which represents travel managers will become members of ACTE.
The merger will increase ACTE's membership in Canada by 37%.
ACTE has also entered a "co-operative agreement" with the CBTA Western Region which will involve joint promotion of educational events.
Greeley Koch, president of ACTE, said: "This merger represents a logical meeting of the minds and combines our strengths in a statement of stronger membership services and greater industry commitment."
Alain Legault, president of the CBTA Eastern Region, said: "Through this merger we have gained a solid partner organisation, more significant means to act and influence the Canadian corporate travel market and an overall stronger voice and representation within our government."
CBTA Eastern and Western region representatives have been invited to join in the planning of two special "Canadian" education sessions at ACTE's Global Education Conference in Atlanta, on May 7-9.
