THE WORLD TOURISM ORGANISATION is to brief the industry on plans for dealing with avian flu at a special meeting at ITB in Berlin on March 10. The one-hour event will be hosted by WTO officials and heads of large travel companies. A focus will be on action by the international community, coordinated by the United Nations, to respond to the current outbreaks of bird flu, the implications for tourism and plans being initiated to minimize its impact.
