Five months into his job as Carlson Wagonlit Travel's (CWT) executive vp for the UK, Andrew Waller has re-structured his senior team.
The major new appointment is Ed Creswell, currently head of field and business travel sales for car rental company Avis UK, who will join CWT UK in July as director of sales.
Nigel Turner, formerly CWT's director of account management, has been switched to the new role of director of government account management UK, following Carlson's win of a £100m contract with the UK's Office of Government Commerce.
Simone Buckley, previously director of sales, has been promoted to another new post, director of marketing UK and will focus on product management, the company's strategy for SMEs and oversee all events and communications.
Mr Waller who joined CWT last December, said he also planned to appoint a new director of business development and a director of corporate account management. Both appointments are expected to be external and announced shortly.
Mr Waller said he had also set up a specialist hotel unit, based in Teesside, north east England as part of his drive to bring more hotel bookings under travel management.
"Hotels are 30-40% of the corporate travel spend but under 20% of companies mange their hotel spend through a TMC so there is a lot to go for," he told BTE.
"Companies are looking for savings and security as well as management of their hotel spend and we can bring all of these."
He said he also planned to focus on corporates' meetings spend where he also described the opportunities as "huge."
He added: "There is a significant number of corporates which do not have any handle at all on their meetings business. We would like to come in and help them consolidate and optimize their meetings business and add tremendous value for them."
Mr Waller said re-structuring the team and focusing on hotels and meetings would help "re-introduce momentum" into Carlson Wagonlit in the UK.
He described the TMC, the third largest in the UK, as a "sleeping giant" which the changes would "set on the path to growth."
