TESCO is not a name normally associated with the world of air travel but Britain”s largest grocer has now forged a relationship with European low fair airline Wizz to sell tickets in all its 42 hypermarkets in Hungary. Tickets will be sold at the Tesco Tobacco Shops for an introductory price of HUF 19,990 (E80) including taxes and charges. The offer is valid for 9 Wizz Air destinations from Brussels, Budapest, Frankfurt, Katowice, London, Malm”, Paris, Milan, Rome and Stockholm and was preceded by a three-week test period in three Tesco stores. This innovation could open up a completely new market for airlines targeting shoppers who either do not have Internet or find the whole booking process beyond them. Wizz Air made its first flight on 1 May and now has carried nearly 1m passengers. Using Airbus A320 aircraft the airline serves 17 European points.
