The Concorde sitting on a barge in New York”s Hudson River urgently needs a new home.
Two problems.
The lightweight aircraft is not so much getting a sea tan, but a spat of sea corrosion. And its foster mother has run away to have a facelift herself and at least for the time being has abandoned it.
Yes Big Apple”s Concorde is rotting away.
It”s actually owned by British Airways. That was part of the deal that took it to New York. That way BA could keep an eye on it.
But it has backfired.
A new residence is urgently required.
The USS Intrepid museum ship, which has cared for Alpha Delta (G-BOAD) since its last ever flight into Kennedy in November 2003, has been towed away for an 18-month overhaul. 750,000 visitors will not be coming aboard ship and plane in 2007. Suggestions please to British Airways PR and the Mayor of New York.
