INCIDENTALLY: Go has Gone
Tom Chesshyre in The Times on Saturday reported on some pretty weird airline names and cited as examples Rockhopper (soon become Blue Islands), FlyWho (who might yet be called FlyWhen with a planned inaugural in July) and Niki, not a PR girl but named after a former motor racing champion.
We give you the following weird titles
Brymon ” named after two New Zealand motor racing types
Debonair ” we never made that one out but the CEO always thought himself smart
Go ” which has gone
Hooters Air ” have you seen the cabin staff?
Kingfisher ” a flying booze advert
Virgin Atlantic ” it was after all Branson”s first attempt to fly the pond
Zoom ” taking off to Canada
And finally the daddy of them, sadly not with us, Dan Air, named after the shipping brokers who founded the carrier and not the cartoon character of the same era.
If you can recall or know of a really strange airline title we might just next week publish it with or without your name attached. There are no prizes for this one.
