Carlson Companies are planning to take a controlling stake in Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), according to a report in a US magazine.
Carlson, a private, US-based group of companies, already owns 50% of the Paris-based travel management company.
Accor Hotels, the French hotel chain which owns the other 50% of CWT, indicated last month that it wished to dispose of all or at least part of its holding.
Business Travel News reported that "several industry sources" said that Carlson planned to buy up a part of Accor's stake later this month. The rest would be acquired by an "unidentified private equity company."
The magazine also said that Carlson was negotiating to buy up TQ3 Navigant, a major TMC in America, to secure CWT's position as the world's second largest business travel agency.
Neither Carlson nor CWT would comment.
Walsh calls for “simple” emissions trading scheme
BA ceo Willie Walsh has told the European Commission that it should make its planned emissions trading scheme (ETS) for aviation simple and practical.
Mr Walsh told Ireland's National Management Conference that it was “vital” that a scheme be introduced to show the aviation industry's commitment to doing its share to tackle global warming.
But he warned that if the scheme were too complicated, its implementation could de delayed.
The EC's ETS was launched in 2005 but does not currently include aviation. The earliest the industry can be included is 2008.
