BLUE PETER, the ever-popular BBC1 children”s TV programme may not be current prescribed viewing for the majority of ABTN readers but its attention to all matters aviation certainly does interest youngsters from an early age. Its latest innovation is a ”paint a plane” competition, in conjunction with British Airways. The winner was Hollie Goodwin, aged eight, from Kent. Her design was one of more than 25,000 entries ” one of the highest ever responses to a Blue Peter competition. Hollie”s design will grace a BA Boeing 757 aircraft, with work starting in the paint shop on 8 March and expected to take just over a week. The ”plane will make its debut live on Blue Peter on 18 March from a hangar at Heathrow. The aircraft, which was due to be re-painted, will still carry BA branding and the normal tail design.
