Air France-KLM and Lufthansa both reported increased passenger figures for September. AF-KLM said its figures were up 6.9% year-on-year while the German national carrier reported a 14.1% year-on-year rise in its Revenue Passenger Kilometres.
AF-KLM said the results were driven up by a strong demand on transatlantic routes where traffic was up by 7.5%.
Air France said its load factor had risen, compared to last September, by 1.2% to 76.4% while KLM said its load factor for the same period was up 1.9% to 85%.
Lufthansa said its load factor rose year-on-year by 0.3% to 77.6%.
Swiss also reported an increased load factor, rising by 3.6% to 75.2% for the first nine months of this year compared with the same period in 2003.
But SAS reported that its European routes were "very weak" with a drop in yield of 7% for August 2004 compared with August 2003. September was not thought to have been any better.
