United Airlines has launched a new version of its mobile app, adding functionality that the carrier says will enhance the customer experience.
Passengers using the app can now manage their reservations and change or cancel flights, although customers who purchased tickets via third party websites will be redirected to the United website to make changes.
Additionally, passengers can now add their United Club and Mileageplus cards to the Apple Wallet, allowing them to keep their information to hand when booking tickets and checking in for flights. If a customer’s Mileageplus number is not tied to their boarding pass, United says they can now use the electronic card in Apple Wallet along with their same-day boarding pass.
United has also added the ability for passengers to track their bags throughout their journey. They will receive real-time updates of when their luggage is loaded onto and unloaded from the plane and when it is available at the baggage claim area.
Linda Jojo, chief digital officer at United, said: “We’re constantly making updates to the app that help our customers manage their travel with us at the touch of a finger and access even more information about their flights as quickly and conveniently as possible.”
