The GTMC announced at its Overseas Conference at the Powerscourt Hotel in Ireland that train delay compensation platform Railguard won its Entrepreneurs In Business Travel Awards.
Railguard competed against four other start-ups including Culturemee, Taptrip, Asemblr and 15th Degree, pitching its services to delegates at the conference. The audience then voted for the winner, with company director Matt Freckelton accepting the award.
Railguard will benefit from access to the GTMC Partnership programme for 12 months, offering the team exposure to – and support from – the organisation’s range of TMC members and industry partners including Easyjet and Accorhotels. The prize also includes a workshop with Travelport’s chief storyteller Jason Nash to offer guidance on developing their brand story, as well as a mentoring day with the Founders Factory team of experts.
Adrian Parkes, CEO of the GTMC, commented: “Congratulations to Railguard for winning this year’s Entrepreneurs In Business Travel Awards at the 2018 GTMC Overseas Conference. We developed the awards to recognise talent as we can see an incredible level of innovation within the sector. We feel it’s very important to support entrepreneurialism in our industry and continue to nurture it for the purpose of broadening technology and product development for the business traveller, our partners and GTMC member TMCs.”
Matt Freckelton said: “It is a great honour to be awarded this accolade by the GTMC community. Since launching Railguard the team has worked incredibly hard to ensure we have the right technology in place to deliver an effective solution to the business travel community. This award is a testament to that hard work and we look forward to working closely with the GTMC and its members and partners in the future to build our offer even further.”
