Marriott Hotels has today announced the addition of mobile phone checkout at 348 of its properties worldwide.
The mobile service, which is exclusively for Marriott Rewards members, will allow guests to checkout of their room using the Marriott mobile app.
The service is available at five hotels in Europe: London Grosvenor Square, Brussels, Bristol Royal, Prague and Zurich.
The group confirmed all of its 500 properties will offer mobile phone check-in and checkout by the end of the year.
In the morning of their departure day, guests will receive a push notification on their phone alerting them the service is available. Upon completing this, guests will be emailed the bill.
Marriott Hotels’ senior vice president for brand management, Paul Cahill, said mobile checkout has put the group at the “forefront of the hotel mobile revolution”.
“When we launched our Travel Brilliantly campaign last year, we made a promise to introduce innovations for our guests that provide a seamless and more customised experience throughout their entire journey.”
Last July, Marriott announced a mobile check-in service at many of their hotels. It said this has been used more than 150,000 times since the launch.
Marriott said it’s also testing mobile phone services that will allow guests to make requests for extra pillows, bath amenities, towels, valet parking and wake-up calls.
