The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has ruled that airlines can allow the use of electronic devices throughout the flight, following a safety assessment process.
This means travellers will be able to leave any device switched on and in any mode.
Currently airline passengers have to switch devices to flight mode and make calls from the airport terminal.
EASA said it’s up to each airline to decide whether to allow the use of electronic devices, with every airline still having to go through an assessment process to ensure aircraft systems “are not affected in any way”.
