BCD Travel has purchased Travelocity Business – one of the top 10 TMCs in North America – for an undisclosed sum.
The Dutch-based TMC has agreed to buy Travelocity Business from parent company Sabre but the deal does not include any products or services offered by Travelocity’s consumer travel brand.
Travelocity Business – known as TBiz in the US – is based in Texas and has been operating as a corporate travel agency since 2003. BCD said it would continue operating the business under the TBiz brand.
Mike Janssen, president of BCD Travel's Americas region, said: “We're a growth-oriented company and see this move as a smart, strategic acquisition.
“We see a fantastic cultural fit with TBiz. Their success comes from focusing on customer needs, enabling travelers and offering great solutions - in other words, they share our priorities and goals. We're excited about the fresh ideas that we'll be exchanging with TBiz team members.”
Former Travelocity Business president Yannis Karmis, who will be staying with Travelocity Global rather than transferring to BCD, added: “We've built strong relationships with our clients, and I'm confident their interests - and the interests of our employees who transfer to BCD Travel - will be very well-served by the sale of TBiz.”
