Travel technology provider Amadeus has launched a pre-paid card service.
Amadeus B2B Wallet Prepaid is a virtual card solution that aims to increase protection against fraud and improve sales reconciliation.
The new service comprises of two virtual cards linked to the same account. Once card earns travel agencies a rebate on the amount spend, and the other helps avoid payment card surcharges applied by some travel providers.
Both options are integrated with the selling interface, so payments can be made while booking a trip.
“The travel industry has broken its reluctance to pay with virtual cards. However, challenges still remain to be overcome to fulfill its potential for growth,” said Celia Pereiro, head of travel payments at Amadeus.
“Amadeus brings an innovative approach which allows travel agencies to boost savings and reduce payment-related costs to a minimum. Virtual cards are widely accepted, so agencies can rest assured that they can use it for all their providers – from low-cost carriers, to car rental providers, hotels and more.”
