London has been identified as the best destination for meetings and events across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in 2026, according to a survey conducted by American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT).
The destination rankings, which follows the release of the TMC’s annual Meetings & Events Forecast, is based on an internal survey of 83 Amex GBT meetings professionals who assessed destinations in the region based on the following criteria: ease of travel and transportation for attendees; cost-effectiveness for organisers and participants; physical safety and security; recent public investments and local attractions; ability to deliver a ‘robust’ attendee experience, and ESG/sustainability attributes.
The UK capital maintained its position as the leading city for the third consecutive year, with Madrid and Barcelona ranking second and third respectively, mirroring the top three results from 2025. Amsterdam appeared on the list for the first time, ranked fourth, bumping Paris down to fifth place in the EMEA ranking.
Survey respondents praised London for its international accessibility, diverse venue portfolio and rich culture. The city’s 'strong' transport links and 'dynamic' business environment were identified as key factors in its appeal.
Amsterdam, a new entrant on the list, was recognised for its rich local experiences, innovative venues and walkability.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas is set to surpass Chicago as North America's leading city for corporate meetings in 2026, with New York and Orlando (a new entrant) ranking third and fourth, respectively, and Dallas rounding out the top five. In the Asia-Pacific region, Singapore maintains its number one position, followed by Bangkok, Sydney, Tokyo and Bali.
