UK travel management company Sunways Business Travel has announced its acquisition of Gem Travel.
Both companies are based in the UK and are members of the Focus Travel Partnership TMC network. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Sunways, which is based in Kent and has been trading since 1973, said in a statement that the acquisition was a “significant step” in its growth plans. Sunways was ranked as the 44th largest TMC in the UK in 2025.
Gem Travel, which is located close to London Gatwick Airport, has been operating for 25 years as a “boutique” TMC.
Mark Colley, managing director of Sunways Business Travel, said: “The acquisition of Gem Travel is a pivotal moment for us. It strengthens our position in the market and reflects our ambition to continue growing with purpose.
“Our focus remains unchanged on delivering outstanding, personalised service powered by expert people and intelligent technology. By bringing Gem Travel into the Sunways family, we are expanding our capabilities while staying true to the values that define us.”
Colley confirmed to BTN Europe that all of Gem's staff will be moving across to Sunways. He added that they would initially operate under the Sunways brand until the third quarter when a new name and branding will be launched.
Sunways also said that its future developments will include offering enhanced technology to clients.
