Eurostar trains to Belgium are set to be cancelled because of a two-day strike being held next week by rail unions in the country.
Belgian rail workers are due to hold industrial action next Wednesday and Thursday, January 6-7.
This will mean that Eurostar will only be able to operate a “limited” service to and from Lille Europe on its Brussels route during these two days.
“The impact of this means that Eurostar will be working to an amended timetable between London and Lille Europe,” said Eurostar in a statement.
Passengers due to travel to Brussels on January 6-7 are being allowed to change their booking to another date or receive a refund.
Some trains from St Pancras to Lille are also being cancelled on these days with customers being automatically rebooked on to the next available train to the French city.
Train services operated by other companies in Belgium, including SNCB and Thalys, are also expected to be severely disrupted by the strike. Some trains on the evening of January 5 will also be affected.
Despite next week’s industrial action, Belgium rail unions have suspended plans for further strikes on January 21,22 and 23.
