Train services through the Channel Tunnel and ferry services to Calais have resumed following yesterday’s strike by My Ferry Link workers in France.
Eurostar, which had to cancel services on Tuesday afternoon and evening (June 23) due to a fire on its track, said it had resumed a full service on Wednesday (June 24).
But the company warned that passengers should leave a minimum of 45 minutes to check-in.
The train operator had to cancel services after My Ferry Link workers started a fire on tracks near the train terminal in Calais.
This led to the cancellation of 25 Eurostar services which stranded an estimated 15,000 passengers, and there have been reports that many of them spent the night at London’s St Pancras station.
Engineers carried out repairs on the tracks overnight to allow train services to resume on Wednesday.
Eurotunnel said that its Le Shuttle service had resumed services at 17.50 on Tuesday and planned to run to up to two departures in each direction between the UK and France on Wednesday morning.
Ferry services between Dover and Calais resumed at around 19.00 on Tuesday following the end of the blockade of the Port of Calais by My Ferry Link workers.
P&O Ferries said that all services were “operating to schedule with space available”.
