In December, United will add three weekly nonstop flights to Cape Town, South Africa, from Newark, pending approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The flight will be the only direct service between the U.S. and Cape Town and will shave about four hours from the current minimum travel time between New York and Cape Town, according to United international network VP Patrick Quayle. United plans to operate the service on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
