Qatar Airways plans to loan laptops to business
class passengers to mitigate the U.S. ban of onboard laptops initiated last
week. Beginning next week, the carrier will provide at the gate a USB for
business class passengers to upload work they need during their trip. Once
onboard, the carrier will issue these passengers a laptop. The carrier also will
allow all passengers to gate-check any prohibited electronic devices. The U.S.
has banned passengers from bringing devices larger than mobile phones onto
inbound flights from 10
airports, including Qatar Airways' headquarters airport, Hamad
International Airport in Doha.
