Marriott International has signed six hotel deals in Africa, the first signings
for the company since its acquisition of Starwood Hotels & Resorts closed.
Three of the properties will be developed with the Amdec Group in Cape Town:
the AC Hotel Cape Town Waterfront, Cape Town Marriott Hotel
Foreshore and Residence Inn by Marriott Cape Town Foreshore.
The Sheraton flag will premiere on Mauritius in a mixed-use development with
the Sheraton Mauritius St Felix Resort and The Residences at Sheraton Mauritius
St Felix Resort. The Element brand will enter Egypt with Element Cairo.
Finally, a second Four Points by Sheraton will open in Nairobi, with Four
Points by Sheraton Nairobi, Hurlingham. The deals comprise more than 1,100
rooms and will bring Marriott's portfolio in Africa to 205 hotels and 37,000
rooms.
