Global air travel demand rose 6.4 percent year over year in August, according to the International Air Transport Association, while capacity rose 5.5 percent. Load factor rose 0.7 percentage points to 85.3 percent, the highest for any month since at least 1990. IATA said 2018 demand will grow moderately slower than it did in 2017 due to rising fuel prices and labor costs. Demand for international air travel rose 5.6 percent. Capacity climbed 5.1 percent, and load factor edged up 0.4 percentage points to 85 percent. Domestic demand climbed 7.7 percent year over year, and capacity rose 6.2 percent. Load factor rose 1.2 percentage points to 85.7 percent.
