Business Travel iQ spoke to CEO Jean-Vincent Hirigoyen to find out more about French start-up opentrip.io, a platform that allows and encourages open booking by capturing data from B2C websites.
When were you launched?
Launched in 2017
How many people are working for the company?
Three people are working for the company; one CEO, one CTO and one developer. Three advisors support us.
Sum up what your company/product does in one sentence.
opentrip.io is a SaaS cloud allowing users to book on their favourite websites/platforms, optimising companies' budget and delivering tailored analysis to each traveller/manager.
Why is it unique?
It understands the new social trends of travellers who need flexibility while booking. Our product allows you to book on other portals/websites other than the corporate travel agency's self-booking tool, and keep these data safe and accessible in our back-office. The machine learning algorithms detect frauds and predict overruns; our product is the perfect mix between liberty and control.
What problem does it solve?
Today, travellers book their trips on the platform/website they prefer. They don't want to be restricted, so this gives more flexibility to travellers and more visibility to the management.
What platforms is it available on and can integrate with?
opentrip.io is back-end technology. We automatically retrieve booking information from any sites/platforms; it doesn't need to be integrated to suppliers to get the reservation data.
What do travel managers and travellers like about it?
The rewarding module gamifies the travel process, making business travellers more cautious regarding the travel policy and budget. Travellers love our product as it gives them more freedom, flexibility and control.
What are your growth plans?
In 2018, we plan to deploy our product in Europe.
