EASYJET has reported pre-tax profits for the year to end September of ”71.6m, better than predicted and a 78% improvement on last year”s ”40.1m. The figures includes two month”s worth of contribution from Go. Other highlights (including Go) include revenues up 55% to ”552m; average net fare down 4% from ”48 to ”46. Departing chairman, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, whose family interests own 22% of the airline said that the company has cash reserves of ”428m. He is replaced by Sir Colin Chandler. Passenger numbers were up by 60% to 11.4m but taking out the Go contribution the figure would have been 10.2m, up 43%, still representing amazing growth. Currently the airline operates 64 Boeing 737s on 88 routes between 36 airports. A formal contract with Airbus for up to 240 new aircraft is expected to be signed shortly.
