EASYJET has gone one further than its rival budget carrier (the one based at Stansted that is Irish and has taken ABTN off its press mailing list ” but its news will be published). From today (Monday 12 July) easyJet is removing the weight restriction (within reasonable limits says the carrier) on hand baggage for all passengers ” a move not only making the check-in faster for travellers but easier for the airline staff too. In order to comply with safety regulations laid-down by the UK Civil Aviation Authority and to reflect the limited space in the overhead storage bins, there will be a volume limit of 55 x 40 x 20 cm for the principal piece of hand baggage ” the same as British Airways Club World. Passengers will also be entitled to take a small piece of personal luggage onboard ” such as a handbag, camera bag and laptop.
