EASYJET is embarking on yet another major expansion this summer including routes to EU newcomers Hungary and Slovenia. From Stansted the budget airline is to fly to Basel (28 March) and Ljubljana (1 May); from Luton to Budapest (1 May), and from Gatwick to Faro, Ibiza, Naples and Prague (23 April). These seven new routes are in addition to the 14 new routes already announced this year. 1 May: Luton ” Berlin; Newcastle ” Nice; 9 May: Liverpool ” Berlin; 17 May: Newcastle ” Berlin; Newcastle ” Palma (Majorca); 18th May: Berlin ” Paris (Orly); Paris(Orly) ” Naples; 25 May: Berlin ” Athens; Berlin ” Copenhagen; Berlin ” Nice; 1 June: Berlin ” Bristol; Berlin ” Palma (Majorca);10 June: Berlin ” Barcelona; 24 June: Berlin ” Naples. With these new destinations the easyJet network will now number an astonishing 135 routes. However the airline is dropping Gatwick to Zurich, due, it is said, to an excessive increase in landing charges in at the Swiss airport. easyJet is taking delivery of 20 brand new aircraft (5 Boeing 737-700s and 15 Airbus A319s) this summer, increasing the fleet to 90.
