EASYJET has launched its new base at Berlin Schonefeld Airport, with three daily flights from Luton and daily flights from Liverpool and Newcastle. Schonefeld, destined to eventually become Berlin”s international airport, does have an integrated link to the German rail network, unlike Tegel which only has buses and taxis. It is easyJet”s biggest ever airport launch, with six aircraft operating to 13 new routes starting in the next two months. The German capital will become the airline”s largest base outside the UK, 1.5m passengers expected to use the services in the first 12 months. In date order the start-ups include Paris Orly (6 May); Athens, Copenhagen, Nice (13 May); Basel, Bristol, Palma de Mallorca (20 May); Barcelona (9 June), and Budapest, Naples (17 June).
