bmi has celebrated the first anniversary of its Heathrow-Riyadh service. To coincide with this chairman Sir Michael Bishop announced that the airline is to introduce proper lie-flat seats in the business class cabin on all its long haul routes. The rollout will begin in spring 2007. It is the only airline that offers an onboard chef service in J (business) class.
bmi's new offering, with its 80" seat pitch, is bound to be compared with the British Airways Club World product, due for an imminent upgrade. Speaking in Riyadh Sir Michael said, "The route between Heathrow and Riyadh has achieved significant success and is moving into profitability. Thanks to this, and the tremendous ongoing support we have enjoyed, we were able to start the service to Jeddah earlier this year which is experiencing similar success."
