LUTON AIRPORT will see competition on the Budapest route from Thursday (24 June) when Wizz Air commences a daily operation using colourful 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. In May the airline started twice-daily flights to Katowice, Southern Poland which the airline says has been successful. From 10th August Wizz Air will operate daily flights between Luton and Gdansk, Poland's main seaport on the Baltic Coast and a double daily between Luton and Warsaw, the Polish Capital. On 1 May easyJet introduced a Budapest route from Luton and with that airlines new service from Gatwick (see above) the capital of new EU member state Hungary will be served from all of London's four major airports.
