Wizz Air has opened another UK base at Cardiff airport with flights to nine routes from the Welsh capital.
The budget carrier is operating flights from Cardiff to Majorca, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Alicante in Spain, Corfu and Crete in Greece, Faro in Portugal and Cyprus, plus a winter route to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt starting in November 2022.
Spencer Birns, CEO at Cardiff airport, said the Wizz Air base“marks a real turning point for the airport in its post-Covid-19 revival plans”.
“What makes this launch so exciting is that Wizz Air is an ultra-low-cost airline that will help build competition and offer improved choice to people living in Wales and the south west,” added Birns.
Wizz Air will be operating Airbus A321 aircraft on its routes from Cardiff, which becomes the airline’s fourth UK base.
Marion Geoffroy, managing director of Wizz Air UK, said: “We’ve been busy building our Cardiff team, and as we continue to recruit, we encourage those looking for their next adventure to apply today.”
