Canadian airline Westjet has announced that it will launch daily direct flights between Halifax Stanfield airport (YHZ) in Nova Scotia and Gatwick and Paris-Charles de Gaulle for its summer 2018 schedule.
All flights will be operated by a Boeing 737-8 MAX. The Paris service will begin on 31 May, with flights departing Halifax at 2255 and arriving at 1000 the following morning. Return flights will leave Paris at 1120 and land in Halifax at 1335.
Starting from 29 April, the Gatwick service will depart Halifax at 2235 and arrive in London at 0821 the following day. Return flights leave at 0950 and land at 1300.
In addition, Westjet says it will add one flight to Halifax from Calgary for a total of 15 weekly flights. The airline claims its traffic from Halifax has grown by more than 160 per cent since 2012.
Ed Sims, executive vice president of commercial at Westjet, said: “Venturing to London and now Paris is an indication of our ambitious growth plans as we move towards becoming a global network carrier. This is an investment that will help launch new flights in the future and further expand our presence in YHZ – a key driver in economic and employment growth.”
