VOLARE AIRLINES, the collapsed Italian airline, has been granted $30 million in state loans in a deal agreed by the European Commission. The hope is that the loan will be matched by bank funding to help the stricken carrier, which is currently in administration. However, Alitalia”s $45 million bid for the airline is still being blocked by the courts as the national carrier attempts to get its hands on valuable Volare assets, including Milan Linate slots.
