VARIG, the Brazilian flagship carrier, and competitor Tam have agreed to end their code-sharing agreement. The two airlines, the first and second largest in Brazil, respectively, started a code-sharing agreement following a merger announcement in early 2003. Regulators instructed the airlines were to end the codeshare agreement after the merger plans stalled. The two airlines will have until 15 February to present a timetable for ending the code-sharing agreement.
