United Airlines has introduced a new feature on its app that will allow passengers to receive and view electronic boarding passes for connecting flights with 19 of its airline partners.
The carrier claims it is the first in the US to offer this functionality, which it says will improve the app for its customers, who use the service 500 million times a year. Partner airlines currently enrolled in the programme include:

- Air Canada
- Air New Zealand
- ANA
- Asiana Airlines
- Azul Brazilian Airlines
- Brussels Airlines
- Cape Air
- Croatia Airlines
- EVA Airways
- LOT Polish Airlines
- Lufthansa
- Scandinavian Airlines
- Shenzhen Airlines
- Swiss
- Thai Airways
- Turkish Airlines
United says it is working with other partners to offer boarding passes through its app and hopes to add more to the functionality in the future.
Kate Gebo, chief customer officer at United, said: “Our partnerships with Star Alliance carriers and other partner airlines can take our customers to over a thousand destinations around the world, and we’re excited to be the first US carrier to provide customers with this convenience when connecting to partners.”
