Beginning today, United Airlines will allow passengers to check two bags on all routes between North America and China and Hong Kong.
Previously, only customers travelling from China/Hong Kong to the US could check two bags for free. The airline says fees for oversized and overweight bags will continue to apply.
United serves 89 weekly flights to four Chinese destinations, including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and Hong Kong.
Marcel Fuchs, VP of Atlantic and Pacific Sales at United, said the move is a response to feedback from passengers, who asked for added benefits on China flights. “By allowing a second checked bag at no additional fee, we aim to make the overall experience of travelling to China and Hong Kong easier for our customers.”
