An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the richter scale hit Hawaii”s Big Island at 0708 on Sunday October 15. There have been no fatalities or serious injuries, with only minor damage to infrastructure and buildings. However some flights were cancelled or delayed due to power cuts on Big Island, Maui and Oahu.
In response to the earthquake, United Airlines has revised its ticket policies until October 18. The revised policies apply to all those ticketed to/from Hawaii on any United, United Express, Ted or United code-share flight on or before October 15, for travel between October 15 ” 18.
Customers with cancelled flights will be offered a full refund.
For customers already travelling, standard change fees, advance purchases, day or time applications, blackouts and minimum or maximum stay requirements have been waived. However origin and destination cities cannot be changed.
For customers who have not begun travelling, one change can be made without change fees or advance purchase requirements for the same itinerary. One change can be made free of charge for a different itinerary.
All changes must be made before midnight of the day of travel.
