AMERICA”S lawmakers have passed a rule that commits US carriers to add to emergency information in aircraft seat backs telling the passenger where the plane had been assembled. Airbus were quick to point out that a Toulouse - built A320 is the coming together of parts from all over the world although they did not use the 60% British A380 as an example. The FAA noted that the cost of printing new cards for the 6,500 aircraft under their jurisdiction would be over US$500,000. In fact the legislation has been in process for nearly 18 months during which time most airlines have had to replace the cards in any event due to wear and tear and other updates.
