US REGULATORS have been lenient to Alitalia and Austrian Airlines in extending for another 30 days the imposition of regulations that require inbound airlines to detail their passenger lists on security grounds. These two are thought to be the only European airlines not to comply with the edict. National data protection rules is the reason given by the carriers for not complying. At the end of the day both airlines will either have to supply the information per landing, or give up their slots.
