PARIS and its air show, which takes place this year Sunday. 15 June, until Sunday, 22 June, are being given the cold shoulder by the United States. In a move reminiscent of the 1980 Moscow Olympics (where without the US Britain picked up some unexpected medals) the Department of Defense is limiting officers participating to no more senior than Air Force colonels and Navy captains, effectively also downgrading their commercial equivalents. The company presidents will not turn up unless the generals do so also! Participation is being scaled back, a reflection of the US attitude to the French following Gulf War II. http://www.paris-air-show.com
