US AIRWAYS seems to have won the battle to be first in the air with an EMB 170 series aircraft in scheduled service. Today (Monday 4 April) MidAtlantic Airways, the carrier”s new regional jet division, will initiate routes from Philadelphia to Albany, Atlanta, Boston, Nashville Newark and Syracuse; and Pittsburgh to Kansas City and Syracuse. Three 72-seat EMB 170 have been delivered out of an order for 39. The Embraer 170/190 family has attracted 245 firm orders and 305 options from Air Caraibes, Alitalia, Cirrus, GECAS, JetBlue, LOT, Swiss and US Airways.
