TURKISH AIRLINES, the national carrier of Turkey, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the purchase of 36 Airbus single aisle and wide body aircraft. The Istanbul-based airline first became an Airbus operation in 1984, when the A310 was introduced on the London route. Now, 20 years on, following the introduction of the A340-300 in 1993, Turkish Airlines has opted for 19 A320s, 12 A321s and five A330-200s. Turkish Airlines will select the engines type to equip the different aircraft at a later stage.
