AIR FRANCE was in its early days very pro-Concorde unlike in later times when BA easily outshined the French airline. Perhaps that is why it has conveniently forgotten an event that took place 30 years ago and demonstrated to the World just what Concorde was all about. On 17 June 1974 at 0822 Eastern Standard Time an AF Concorde lifted off from Boston en route to Paris Orly. At exactly the same time an AF Boeing 747 departed Orly outbound for Boston. After spending 1 hour 8 minutes on the ground at Paris Concorde took off once again, this time on its return journey to Boston. Concorde arrived 11 minutes before the 747. Will they believe it in the future? On the Concorde theme the new museum at Bristol - Filton has opened. Pre-booking only at this stage.
