EMERALD AIRWAYS, based at Liverpool, has gone into administration
following the suspension of its Air Operators Certificate by the CAA
(see last week”s ABTN). KPMG have been appointed with a view to
selling it as a going concern. ”However, in order to achieve a sale,
it is imperative that the AOC suspension is lifted, so we will be
working with the Civil Aviation Authority over the coming days to
achieve this.” Emerald has a fleet of over 30 freight and passenger
aircraft used on scheduled and ad-hoc services throughout the UK and
Europe. The firm, which employed approximately 200 staff, had an
annual turnover of ”25m.
