The Appointment Group (TAG) has negotiated an agreement with British Airways and Iberia that will enable its clients to avoid paying the airlines’ GDS booking fee.
BA and Iberia implemented the £8 surcharge on November 1, but all three GDSs have reached a deal with the airlines that creates a route for TMCs to negotiate directly for access to content without fees. Since then, several major agencies have reached agreements with the carriers.
TAG, which works with the Travelport GDS, says the move is part of its commitment to being able to offer clients competitive fares. It also comments that it is investing heavily in technology in 2018 to keep up with changes to airline distribution.
