BANGKOK is to be linked non-stop from New York for the first time. From 1 May, daily except Monday, Thai International will operate a 16-hour plus service using a three class 215-seat Airbus A340-500. The indicated strength of the route is shown by Thai offering 60 seats in Royal Silk (business) with near flat 170-degree seats, 42 seats in premium economy, and only 113 seats in the basic economy configuration. The airline also operates a four times weekly service across the Pacific from Bangkok to Los Angeles via Kansai, this time with a Boeing 747.
