TRANS WORLD AIRLINES (TWA) is a name long associated with the airline industry and despite the carrier being absorbed into American Airlines a couple of years ago, its brand has continued to live on in the interiors of a number of its former McDonnell Douglas MD-80s. However, American Airlines has not surprisingly revealed plans to upgrade the interiors of these aircraft to make them consistent with the rest of its fleet of the type. Following flight attendant and customer feedback, the classic TWA interiors will be removed over the course of the next year to be replaced by American's easily recognisable dark blue interiors. Alongside new seats and carpets, American will also introduce larger overhead luggage lockers and new power points throughout the cabin. The upgrades will begin immediately and should be completed by the autumn of 2005.
